Bullshit Ticket
So apparently we have this new traffic law in Saint Louis. If an officer is writing a ticket on the median and you are in the right lane you are to "get out of the right lane or show a noticeable decrease in speed" um and ya, you guessed it, i got a ticket for it. Pretty much cause i didn't know about the new law. But ignorance is no excuse. Anyway, I was behind about a dozen drivers in the center lane of a 3 lane highway when this slower traffic clod in front of me started getting antsy. You could just tell the drivers were itching to shuffle their positions. I was just moseying along at the back of the pack watching things develop when everyone rounded the corner and the flashing police ticketing incident exposed itself on the right median. So what do you think all if 60 mph drivers do? Of course, they all lock up their breaks and panic at the flashys. I still can't see the cop car n lights due to the fact that I’m behind a brown Yukon truck. So, I decide to get out from behind this mess before i get caught up in an accident and proceed to pass in the empty right lane. I accelerate to 62 when I spot the flashys on the side of the road. Already next to the Yukon I hold off on my acceleration and move to the left side of the right lane as there is a cop car right on the right white line of the median. If I stopped accelerating did I then show an acknowledgement of the incident on the median? As i pass the officer pulls out behind me and pulls me over and proceeds to give me a ticket for failure to yield. So now i suppose whenever there is a ticket being written; A. The next lane over is closed. This means a 2 lane highway becomes 1 lane, which might cause a little more congestion in traffic and likely some additional accidents of people scattering out of that lane to avoid a ticket. B. Start breaking hard and hope the person behind you doesn't hit you. And if you’re in the other lanes when all the other skeered lemmings hit their breaks cause they spotted the offence, then rely on your cat like reflexes and luck to stay outa the hospital. The ticket normally cost $80 and carries points as a moving violation. I got a lawyer to fix it at a cost of $150. I really feel I got trapped into this one as I was only avoiding a potentially bad situation by getting out from behind the stamped. watermellon
I've saved several watermellons from fall harvest (homegrown). I corked it and managed to fill it with half a bottle of peach schnaps. the weather down here in the valley is supposed to be phuking awsome this week. I'm putting together plans to watch the sunset in the mid 70s temp and eat mellon. yum yar yahoo, laxxie, call me a lush. :-] after the sun sets and i put a couple of apple pies in the oven, i've got a nice bon fire all set up. wednesday is supposed to have a clear sky but on thursdays @ 8:00 earthsongs on KDHX is very condusive to bonfires and relaxing while contemplations and such. and speaking of KDHX..... Who0t Who0t WhoooHHooooOOO0, I won 2 tickets to the Jonny Cash tribute on the 18th.. OMFG nobody reads this anyway, but on the off chance anyone did who knew me, they would also know that i'm all about Cash ... Chet Atkins and George Clinton and the PFunk allstars. cause i'll shoot ya with the bopp gun. L8ter OUT Current Mood: anxiousCurrent Music: silence | | Monday, October 2nd, 2006 | | 9:55 pm |
fireplace
installed a wood burning buck stove in the fireplace this last weekend. been drag racing the stang a couple of more times. still learning that a stickshift is not the best for drag racing. but its by far the funest to drive around town ripping the gears every while and a once....or twice. lost at poker a couple of times. I can win and usually do in the beginning but end up throughing my lead away because due to more interest in having fun than in winning. This is exactly why i never bet when i play pool. when $ gets involved it changes the objective of the game. | | Sunday, September 24th, 2006 | | 12:07 am |
Toshiba or what
ok, i went to BBuy ultimate and some others and the outcome was pretty much as follows: AMD -vs- intel.... hands down intel because of power comsumption and battery life. Dell, HP, Gateway, Compaq, Toshiba, ergonomics are up to your preference. Toshiba is supposed to be the most trouble free and durable. i liked the layout. I then narrowed it down to two Toshibas. The latest small footprint one that just came out yesterday and the widescreen kickass one within price range. both have the duo core processor and XP media center edition. I don't know much about media center addition because i have never had a chance to screw with it:} the smaller one is $750 and the larger one is $950 before military discount. they are 1.6 ghz half a gig of PC2 4200 ram. lesser one has an 80 gig drive. larger one has 120 gig drive. larger one is vista OS capable and probably too on the smaller one. smaller one is 14 inch screen while larger one is 15.4 inch widescreen. you'l like the wide one. both of the screens have an awsome picture and are double latch type with good hinges. and both have dvd RW drives. model numbers are A105-S4074 and M115-S3094 ... http://www.circuitcity.com:80/ccd/productDetail.do?oid=160474&catOid=-12963&JSESSIONID=FWZTyfkhvLZB8hFTTTVxVsy6lGHV8p!1357922098!1159076243899 and http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Toshiba-Satellite-Notebook-PC-A105-S4074/sem/rpsm/oid/155880/catOid/-12963/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do I am only using circut citys website to provide a link to the product description. So i guess the guy who worked at some school and said that toshibas were good and durable was right. kudos to him. the hard drives are large enough that i don't think you have much to worry about if you prefer an IPOD to another mp3 player. On MP3 players i evaluated them too. I talked to paul and he says he might have overexagurated how much space the IPOD uses for the cache. He was just disgruntled about it. but its definately there and sizeable and still makes your mp3s Itunes mp3s. the Creative Zen Vision M 30 gig seems to be the one thats the big competitor. It is 240 bucks and 30 gigs with good durablity and navigation,,, and add ons available. heres a poll on it http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Customer-reviews-for-Creative-Labs-30GB-Pink-Zen-Vision-M-ZVM30EFPK/sem/rpsm/oid/152032/rpem/ccd/productDetailReview.do#tabs you prolly won't get the pink one. hahaha. here's the link to the ipod version which is actuall the same price. http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Apple-30GB-Color-iPod-with-Video-MA002LLA/sem/rpsm/oid/137195/catOid/-12952/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do I wouldn't be scared of the IPod . its the top seller for a reason. the price is the same and the HD on the new laptops will handle the size injection of the cache files. who cares if it hijacks your mp3s .. your only planning on listening to them. not serving ftp. I vote for the ipod and the big laptop and your set. these are both what i'll get when i land my new job although i'll prolly opt for an OS upgrade. there you go. ... .. geta groove on. electronics n gateway
went drag racing at gateway on tuesday nite. Nitrous oxide working good now, just not the rest of the system that makes it all work right. Problems with the electronics. relay, grounds, connections, WOT switch, NOS window switch. not sure. gonna take it all outa the system and make it simple eliminating the bells and whistles. get it to work right... then elaborate the system from there. I ran 14.5 as the quickest broken time while short shifting the motor to compensate for the NOS colapse at 4500 RPMs. still working on the system.
